Nashville Party Guide: Creative Photobooth Prop Ideas

Photobooths provide a great way for guests of any function to take home a physical piece of the party you worked so hard to put together. But coming up with ideas for props can seem like an overwhelming task. Aren’t they all the same? How can you make something original that fits with the vibes and the style of party you are hosting?

We at Entertain! have plenty of ideas, so you can take the guess work out of this part of your planning. Photobooth props are, overall, meant to be simple and easy to move items so guests can change their look or their poses without needing to do too much work. Simplicity is the best solution if you are stuck on an idea. Keeping your props together and organized will ensure a smooth transition from one group of people using the booth to the next. Read on to find out our ideas for great prop ideas!

Classic Props

You can never go wrong with the classics. Photobooths are the time to bring out the silliness in people, and silly props add to the fun! Oversized glasses, feather boas, and random hats will make the pictures come out bright and smiley as friends laugh at their new looks. Wigs and ties that clip on quickly are also a fun touch.

Themed Props

Hosting a party for a midnight release? Use props that represent the game or movie everyone is present to see, like masks of characters. Is the party for someone who loves a certain franchise? Provide specific props, like a scarf from a Hogwarts house or a leather jacket even Tom Cruise would want to wear. An Easter party means the photobooth is full of peep themed props, like bunny ears, or even large, colorful eggs to hold up and pretend to eat. 4th of July means fireworks, so give your guests fake ones to hold along with their red, white, and blue clothes.

Classy Props

If your event is more elegant and classy, like a wedding, the props can still match the vibe. Instead of masks or boas, participants can hold up signs that say things like “Bride Squad” or “Congratulations!”. A New Year’s Eve party might need gold or silver wine glasses and top hats inside the photobooth, or maybe signs saluting the new year. A station on the way to the photobooth where guests can customize their own speech bubbles is a fun touch on a classic idea!

Pool Party Props

Who said photobooths could only be for inside events? Your guests can enjoy the wonderful summer memories living in the pictures you provide at your next beach-themed event or graduation pool party. Give them funky towels to drape over their necks and red solo cups to raise high. Giant sunglasses will once again be a hit, as will oversized sun hats. Volleyballs and beachballs are simple props guests can use to add dimension and movement to their photos as well.

Kids Props

Children will love the idea of getting their pictures taken with silly dress up elements. Smaller hands will find it easier to hold onto sticks rather than putting on an entire wig before the camera flashes, so give them premade cutouts of silly hairstyles attached to straws. The same can be done with funky lips. Imagine the giggles as little faces see themselves in the pictures, wearing beards and crowns and mustaches. Masks made of favorite characters like Bluey make fun memories.

Back to School

Put a new spin on an old trend, one that can give kids a fun send off on their first day back to school without putting all their personal information online. Signs that read “Class Clows”, “Teacher’s Pet”, or “Hello 9th grade” will show their personality and their exciting future.

Nighttime Props

While they may not produce the typical photobooth pictures, using props such as glow sticks can create a cool effect that guests will love since they are one of a kind. Give them glasses that light up instead of regular shades, mini flashlights that use colored light bulbs instead of regular ones, or bracelets that light up. Before the sun sets, set up a painting station for your guests to paint their own shirts with glow in the dark paint, then have them wear their creations for the pictures.

However you choose to set up your photobooth, keeping the props simple is the key. Make them too complicated, and your guests’ pictures will look rushed as they struggle to swap the props for new ones. Give too few options, and everyone will have the same photo to take home instead of an original. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
